The Opportunity

After attending a conference on embodied carbon and learning how it is being considered, calculated, and assessed in our industry, I recognized a critical gap - the connection between embodied carbon and its broader impact on the processes of the atmosphere is often unclear. This presentation was created to help architects contextualize embodied carbon—what it is, where it comes from, why it matters, how it is evaluated in buildings, and how we can begin implementing better practices to address it effectively in an office and as an industry.
